USB Tethering with an Android Phone

Introduction
------------

  This article describes how to install the drivers for USB tethering
  with an Android Phone on Windows XP.

Method 1
--------

  Download a patch from Microsoft [1].

Method 2
--------

  1. Download the file "tetherxp.inf" [2].

  2. Open "Device Manager"

     Start -> run -> devmgmt.msc

  3. Locate the Android device under "Other devices" and double click
  on it.

  4. Select the "Details" tab and read the USB ID under "Device
  Interface Id".

  5. Edit "tetherxp.inf" with WordPad and insert a line with the USB
  ID in the section "[AndroidDevices.NT.5.1]".

  6. Select the "General" tab and reinstall/update the driver by
  choosing the "tetherxp.inf" file.
